Rubbish! I am what I would class as average and a lot of the people I know and work with are too. None of us are any of the above, but I know I couldn't afford (if I could easily get) private health care and I would guess the same could be said for most of the people I know. Some people don't earn a lot of money out there and simply couldn't afford to go private.

Oh, and before you say it, don't bother going down the route of 'get a better job'. There will always be someone doing the low paid jobs whether it be me, you or somebody else, thus being in the same boat. Just because somebody doesn't earn a huge fat salary, doesn't mean they should be left to rot.

No need to pay for private, just select the private hospital from Choose and Book who tender/offer to do the work/treatment at the same price as the NHS hospitals available on the same list.

One interesting point to note on SN these days is how often people comment that the country is full of scrounging workshy spongirs and freeloading immigrants... the media really have sucked so many of you in over the last few years and yet you claim to be intelligent. Take a deep breath and really look around you, is the country really comprised mainly of these type of people... no it isn't!!! Not by a long chalk. The 'average man on the street' is a just a normal person trying to make ends meet and they just might need the NHS!!!

Yes it does cost less than sky tv mate at the moment as it cant
charge more really as if it does few people would buy it as they are already covered by the NHS.

If the NHS was to collapse I guarantee the price of private health cover would skyrocket as people would have no choice but to buy it.

I have private health care through work which is nice but we need to keep
the NHS running aswell as oap's and poor people would not be able to go private.
I watched a movie called sicko and it was a massive eye opener as
in america their private health care has caused so many problems
the old and people who dont make that much money are left to rot
and if you are injured and dont have insurance all the hospital has to
do is stabilise you and push you out the door.
And before anyone says well they should be paying health insurance
say a family are poor and cant afford health insurance and their child
is sick the hospital wont even try to help the child unless a sponsor
or something like that helps and if not the child does not get treatment.
yes it is the parents fault for not having insurance but it is not the kids
fault that he is now not getting treatment.
And on that sicko movie there was a women struggling to pay for
her medicine which was two asthma squirters which was $100 each
and she needed 2 or 3 of them a month.
In the uk they are free and then the women got taken to mexico where the same medicine was $4.
this is what happens when we hand over our health care to a
greedy private company.
Its all bells and whistles right now but what would happen if it all goes private ?

Private health care is good as long as it is just on the side.
