Default Tree fell on my trailer... Insurance?

A tree has blown over and crushed my car trailer, it's stored at a mates farm, and the high winds blew a big tree over and flattened the car trailer, snapping the axels and bending the bed, they have public liability insurance but obv I don't have the trailer insured so can I claim off there public liability insurance or do I just take a loss??

Probably a loss. Were you paying to store it there?

I won a claim for storm damage so not necessarily an act of God. I would pursue a claim through his insurance. dl

Yeah, same as if a tile fell off his roof and smashed into your car. Worth a shot anyway. dl

Depnds on how your mate takes it.

Public liability is the correct way, I mean if it was a visitor's car they should pay out, so why not the trailer? I think the crux is how long the trailer has been there, I'd just say its being loaned or was stored short term.

Was the tree TPO'd? I'd wish mine would blow down - then I'd sue the council for preventing me from pruning it to a safe height

Your council would have a hell of a job showing that it was you pruning the tree rather than you tidying it up after a storm had torn down many of the branches They would never know anyway (unless neighbour drops you in it).
