Default Le Mans 24hour

Anyone going? Not been before myself so first time there. Looking for suggestions on anything to do while there (places to watch from, places to eat, evening entertainment, etc). Also looking for any suggestions on what to do for the England game on Friday 15th June - know any bars that will be showing this game?

I've always wanted to go.

How are you doing it? Drive and hotels or camper or what?

Did it years ago with two mates, one of the best weekends I've ever had.
One of my mates dad had a transit van so we took that, few sleeping bags in the bag and that was our accommodation sorted.
Van came in very useful for the booze on the way home too
We arrived on the Friday and stayed until the Monday morning.
Plenty of food, drink and fast cars made for a cracking weekend.
One of those things you've got to do in life if you like your Motorsport.

Yep, it's a tick on my motoring related bucket list. We're driving down and camping inside the track - which is meant to mean no sleep at any time :-)

We stayed at the track, best place to be, atmosphere is great.
If the wall of death is still there it's worth seeing too if you can tear yourselves away from the racing.

My Son goes every year with his Dad. He loves it. He can share the driving this year
They travel on the Thursday, stay over night in a hotel. Then continue the journey to Le Mans. They hit a campsite, can't remember where, which is pre booked. Will get more info from him when he gets back from work

7th year for me now, le mans always such a good atmosphere meet people all ages and walks of life. They had the world cup on the big screens near the circuit two years ago I'm sure they will also be showing the euro 2012

The only way to do it is camp in or next to circuit, we camp on Houx, last year we had marque with chandeliers, projector, play station life was good....

One thing to remember is a radio to tune into commentary!

I'm a five times veteran now, organise it yourself and it can work out quite cheap. We just did 8 days in a gorgeous apartment (2 bed-2bath , stunning sea view). Front row tickets at swimming pool chicane, flights , hire car etc for about £700 each and that for the bests seats in the house, get cheaper tickets and your talking about £500 each.

Anyone see Davidsons crash last night. Both drivers were very lucky not to have been seriously injured. Driver in the Ferrari 458 is a total **** though IMO, said he didn't see him. WTF!

bit harsh Chip, just a racing incident....similar crash lash year with McNish only that was his fault....these things happen with 4 classes out on track at the same time

Alloy, I don't think it's harsh at all and neither do most commentators either. The guy knew the speed differential as he'd been out on track for hours and was an experienced racer. He should have been aware of AD approaching at a faster speed from behind.
