Using a tablet abroad?

Were off to the Cote D'azur next week and as I have just bought an new Sammy 7.7 tablet I'd like to take it with me. Is it possible to go online cheaply rather than get charged huge sums by the mobile phone companies?

I always use a WiFi connection when in Europe.

Look for a booth at the airport, lots of carriers offer iPad data only sims on PAYG. Easier to get than telephone sims.
