Wooden Sash Replacement Windows

Wooden Sash Replacement Windows
Mum's house in Ireland and the old wooden sash windows are single glazed and rotting after 100 years or more. Want to replace just the windows/frame with new units (false economy?) with d/glazing to keep out some of that lovely fresh atlantic breeze and keep the heat in.
Windows look similar to below
But they are freakingly expensive
A cost of £680+VAT per window for 1.7m x 0.9m & I have 6 to do. I've also got another 2 out the back that should be done at the same time. If I wanted to replace the boxes as well (whole window) then its another £300+VAT per window.
Now I haven't haggled yet and I'm not going PVC but anyone know anywhere I could get these a LOT cheaper? My g/f has just replaced 6 largish windows in PVC on a flat for £1500 fitted as opposed to £7000 supply only

Looking for the SN Massive recommendations. I did contemplate building them myself - 26 or so bits of cut wood, glue, 4 pieces of sealed glazing, motice joints and some of those large clamps - as the component parts cannot be that expensive. Labour & markup are stupid though.

Recently replaced all my sash windows, 6 of them. They removed the moveable bits, the two framed panes of glass but left the inner workings and decorative internal wood in place. Then they fitted a double glazed unit that was half and half so looks like a sash. This hides all the inner workings of the old sash. They clad all the external wood in upvc so no maintenance. I had these and 2 dormers and a normal window done for £2800 through a local company, not in Ireland tho!
