How strong is your relationship? I hope is 100%, because moving in together highlights all the little niggles and flaws you see in each other. Going from living separately and sleepovers, the odd holiday together etc to full-time co-habiting can be a bit of a shock to the system.

Get the ground-rules straight right from the off.....who pays what....bills, tax, food, rent, mortgage....Mortgage? If you are buying, then get it clear who owns what and what will happen should the relationship fail. Same goes for rent to a lesser degree.
Who owns what too.....anything you buy together for the new house must be accounted for should the worst happen. Will furniture and electricals be easy to divide up?

I know it seems harsh to be thinking so negatively now, but if it does all fall on its **** in 6 months, you need to be clear about what happens financially regarding deposit, outstanding bills and so on.

On the plus-side, you will probably have a couple of weeks of intensive ******** to start things off.

Worst decision of my life

Now almost impossible to reverse due to 11 month old baby, huge mortgage etc. Life is so much easier when you've only got yourself to look after, tent in a field, a good sleeping bag and a bottle of whisky would be sufficient.

Just kidding

sound advice guys, it is a rental property yes, we wouldn't be able to get on the housing ladder just yet.
We live in each others pockets anyway mate, every single night without fail, the only difference now will be the financial stress of it, but we are sound so should be all good. obviously i see my mates too lol, god reading that back i sounded like one of those.

cheers

Ben

Whatever you have factored in for Gas, Electric, shopping, bog rolls, cleaning products and so on just triple it! The reason for this is you are moving in with a woman and of course their logic is just from another planet. lol.

get ready to have stupid arguments about toilet roll, plates, cups etc.

if you're a clean freak I bet she isnt, or vice versa.

one toilet or two? if you're sharing, get used to the reality that yes, women poo too!

Buy a dishwasher, as you'll end up arguing because you forgot to do the washing up she asked you to do.

3 months of bliss now since I bought one

We need pics of said 'partner' before good advice can be offered. Don't forget the load of bread on the head.

Give it 6 months, you'll both run out of things to talk about. That's when she'll start talking about marriage and having kids.

open another bank account between you , call it the 'house account', both of you put in exactly the same amount of money per month from your own personal accounts (making sure the total amount covers all bills) and have all your bills direct debited from the said account.

nice and simple and no arguments over who paid for what etc
