as has been said in previous threads, Game were looking well dodgy. not stocking Mass Effect etc etc. Heard this morning they have called in the administrators. Another high street retail chain bites the dust.

No real surprise there, sadly. Video games are commodity items, there's no way suppliers can differentiate themselves other than on price and availability - and the online retailers have them well and truly beaten on both counts.
Add that to the fact that publishers are trying their hardest to screw both resellers and end customers by selling games with single-use activation keys, and it's almost inevitable that high st retailers are going to struggle.
I'll miss Game - even though, like many others it seems, I never actually bought very much from them.
Part of the problem is the number of stores they have in the same areas, for example they have 2 game stores and a gamestation which is owned by game all within 200metres of each other, it's crazy really.
