Ive just bought a mountain bike, this should be a laugh as i aint rode a bike for about 15 years.

Ok, I have a cat eye trip computer which is wireless, works very well, nice clean display shows speedo and a clock which is all I need 99% of the time, it also logs av speed, top speed etc. coat about £30 I think, only thing it lacks which I would like is a back light.

For locks I have 2 for different uses, I have a cheap cable lock which I use in cycle point in Leeds which is a secure parking building at the train station but needs a lock on bike for it to be insured by them.

I also have a big heavy chain and padlock, it's crude but you would need an angle grinder to get it off! It's heavy but 100% reliable.

About your bike maintenance Haynes do a cycle manual at halfords usually in the bike section which is worth buying for a start.

Decent D-Lock and extender cable. The latter especially if it has quick-release wheels, or valuable wheels.
