Yup agree 100%

There's no way I'll be subscribing to Sky to watch F1.

I'll either stream it or get another dish pointed at RTL

Well, in principle I agree, but as I've got Sky HD, it's "free" anyway to me (in addition to what I consider I pay now!)

Will have a looky

I suppose the tv licence is free to all you over 75's ? If not then you're paying for it anyway, albeit, indirectly.
I think! LoL

As nice as it was to watch F1 on the BBC, I think that using licence fees to pay for a "sport" that is basically a huge marketing exercise with the aim of making B. Ecclestone very rich was rather dubious from an ethical point of view..
Sky or ITV are more appropriate vehicles for such an exercise IMO.

So what are they showing? On VM all I see is a static advert.

Then again, I don't have Sky Sports or movies. And I doubt I ever will.

**** Murdoch! You can keep your HD and your brain dead presenters (I guarantee it will be fronted by some complete **** and a dumb bitch with big ****) I REFUSE to line the pockets of a morally bankrupt, tax dodging, phone hacking walking corpse!

I will not watch F1 on sky. Under any circumstances. I refuse.

You cant moan about Murdoch making money from F1 with Bernie at the wheel. Bernie is just as slippery.

I also think it was the BBC that caused what we have now because they could not afford F1 and felt the license fee should be better spent on sh1te like The Voice.

Exactly, its a money grabbing scheme, it shows its got way out of hand and at least the BBC realised and said, go elsewhere for your stupid demand and who pops up and agrees, murdoch`s men, if they didnt, bernie would have no choice but to back down and accept a proper/reasonable amount, instead, with yes men he can demand ££££ and sky go yup yup yup at the minutes its free with a set package, it wont be for long

consumer power and all that

But the BBC can't afford to show it anymore.
Sky F1 won't fail - Sky are actually very good at sports coverage.

I've got a sky HD box but do not pay the extra £10 a month to have all the HD channels. Will i still get this F1 channel or is it only for those who subscribe to the HD channels ?

I looked at this a little more pragmatically - despite the fact I don't want to give Murdoch any more money I wasn't going to let that red mist come down!

BBC will have 10 full races in HD, and some of these are (my) choice races, UK, Spa, Monaco, Brazil. I do try to watch every race, but in reality I rarely get up to watch Australia, Malaysia, China etc. Then when the day races clash with family outings, events etc I sometimes miss those too.

So I perhaps watch on 12 to 15 live a year and the rest on highlights. This would have been satisfied by BBC highlights anyway.

Perhaps some people watch every race live, but surely with 19/20 a year (plus all the qualy sessions and build up/practice) I wonder if some people really get time to watch all that and get on with the rest of their lives.

So actually I think you can quite easily say no to Murdoch and get an F1 fix through BBC.

Though FWIW I upgraded my Virgin package to include Sky F1 anyway! So I'm not directly paying Murdock (does that count?).

Have a look and see if you have it, I'm watching now.

Whatever your principles allow you to do, I reckon Sky will make it a lot more interesting than it's been to-date. We'll see!

I reckon it'll be free with the HD/Sports packages for this year, and next year they'll start charging for the channel, once everyone has 'come round' to the idea of Sky having it and seeing all the effort they've put into it so far. This year will be a 'teaser'. IMO of course

Maybe I should have posted that I have HD. I was really pointing out that the F1 channel was actually up and working now.

Let us know if you get the races live without subscribing to HD - I'll be straight on the phone to Sky to complain

Just some historic stuff, Williams car being built at high speed and other stuff.

I wonder if everybody can get this until race time, then get the number to call to upgrade.

It will be interesting to see if Sky HD is better quality than the BBC HD was. It always has been in the past.

No, I've tuned into it on my TV but it's scrambled. Not a Sky subscriber so it's back to as it was 30 years ago, trying to avoid hearing the result until I can see the replay .

I guess I'll have to give this place a miss too, since some people can't help posting the result.

Les, I would have thought SKY will use the feed from the host broadcaster as did the BBC.
