Cheapest & Easiest way for a divorce?
We have been separated nearly 3 years now. Best to make it final and official. All assets have been divided and we've one child and care is decided between us.
I just want a cheap and fast divorce, best way to go about it?

Online - www.divorcetrak.com is £159 including Consent Order. £370 to apply to the Courts.
You can, of course, get all the forms from the Court yourself. There are affidavits to get witnessed (£20 each?)

£550 seems a bit excessive if you're doing it yourself, laws and what's required may have changed in that period but maybe worth approaching your local county court and asking the question.

Best to make sure you get a clean break legally there's nothing to stop her coming back for more money many years down the line or even a share of your pension. Whilst it may be amicable now people and circumstances change.

My story as follows from what I can remember
I went to my local court which was the Civil Court and family court, walked up to the counter and told them my situation and they gave me the relevant paperwork, I completed it advising I wanted to divorce my then estranged wife, you have a choice of grounds you wish to divorce on, once you submit the papers they then forward them to your ex to be and if she agree's she signs the papers off and returns them to court and it's a simple procedure where the judge agree's to your divorce and issues a decree absolute after analysing the paperwork .
Should she disagree with your grounds to divorce then the fun will start, it's probably best to discuss it with her before submitting, lastly if she fails to return the paperwork to the court within a specified time it will again be down to the judge to make a decision, usually deciding in your favour.
I had to make three trips to court in total and even sat in on the judge making the decision, just to make sure I was free

I very recently did this myself - assests had already been divided and our two children have a routine set between us...which I had to explain to the court on a D8A form which is then sent to your ex for them to sign if they agree....
if you're still talking and being amicable then I would suggest doing it yourself - as 'puff the magic wagon' has put the .gov website is a big help.
You're looking at £340 to apply for your petition and obtaining decree nisi and then a further £45 6weeks after receipt of the decree nisi being issued for your decree absolute.
The court officials can counter sign where ness.
If things are not good between you and your ex then I would suggest a solicitor - it may be expensive and long winded but it will avoid you getting into a mess and potential arguements which can lead to all sorts.
cheers Andy

Cheers guys.
The only reason she hasn't done it is because she wants me to pay. So i shall oblige now. It was handy still being married on the leap year day though, got out of that one

Be careful. We are still amiable but his greed is starting to come through now. I have had to involve a Solicitor. Swiss has had one hell of a time and I don't want to end up with the same problems. Protect yourself not just for now but the future

I 'think' you'll find if you divorce her, and it's for summat like adultery she'll pay. When I got divorced, she divorced me and the quickest and easiest thingi was advised to do was admit to everything. I was being accused of having an affair amongst other things, that I wasn't. I just agreed, done in just a few weeks, no repercussions. Mind you, no kids involved.
Hope this helps.

What is the process for getting divorced and making sure there are no come backs in the future with regards to money etc?
Also how do I go about safeguarding a certain distance my daughter can legally move too?
