Default private plate transfer question

i had a recovery truck i sold to my friend with my plate on, i dragged my heels putting it on retention so i just gave him the logbook he put it in his name and said when i want it give hime a shout

so now i want it, so ok i have a truck in my name or it will be soon, my old trucks now in his name

will i need to fill out the forms in his name and take down logbook and his insurance etc and mine or is it easier?

not sure what the process is

He will need to put the plate on retention, which will give him a a new registration plate for his(your old) truck.
Then he will make you the grantee of the registration on retention. £80 I seem to remember

plus you may need to pay a fee as the insurance companies like to charge to change particulars.

Well my insurance company charge me £15 to update the details. My friend was charged £25 for the same thing. Most don't but until you ring up, then you will find out.

Whether he(your mate) transfers the plate directly or through retention, it will cost you, unless you expect your mate to bear the cost of your laziness
