Default sending records in the post?

Ive just sold some beatles records for my dad on ebay, they sold for quite a lot of money, however after just packaging them up and arranging a courier, im starting to lose confidence that they will arrive safely, I mean they have lasted 40 odd years upto now in mint condition, it would be a real shame for them to be thrown onto a van and smashed into a thousand pieces.

are there any specialist couriers who will be 100% careful and deal with the parcel with the respect it needs from collection to delivery?

Cheers in advance.

More than a shame, Jamo. Like smashing bowls from King Tut's tomb. I really don't know about this one, most couriers seem to be inept, and you need to have as few drop-offs as possible really. That rules the big compaines out. Have you contemplated delivering them? Speak to the buyer and come to an agreement, these things are a part of popular music history after all.

They are vinyl, so unlikely to BREAK as such.
Just make sure that they are well packaged to avoid sharp objects penetrating, and that the cover corners won't be damaged and take it from there.

If you mark the parcel "Fragile, old records" most delivery drivers will take the utmost care.

If he doesn't want to meet he is probably looking to move them on and motivated by money only. He can claim for damaged records and get top whack from the insurance.
If he cares anything for them he will travel; I wouild.

The problem is if they are couriered over the space of a few days and they experience extremes of temperature (I know, I know, this is England! There is only one extreme of temperature) and poor positioning in the van they could warp. It depends on the original packaging and warnings written on the outside I know, but some drivers dont give a ****, illustrated by a set of speakers I sent insured arriving at their destination with what looked like a fork lift fork-sized hole right through one of the fronts!

they are in a beatles wooden box, and ive wrapped the box in bubble wrap. I just feel really un easy aboiut it to be honest and its a LOT of moneys worth, I cant highlight that enough, I do expect it to be a dealer that has bought them as there are some really rare records that are in mint condition (like as if they have just been made).

Bloody eBay! No joy selling them on any of the hi-fi forums then? Or even discogs?

Sorry I know its a bit late, but if he pulls out (which I very much doubt) you could look to list them on sites like that.

Send me a list if you want to know if he got a bargain or not, Lol.

Seriously though mate i`ve been collecting/trading in vinyl for nearly 20 years now since i was about 17/18 years old, There are so many different pressing of beatles LP`s but if you put a box of 50`s/60`s/70`s records in front of me regardless of who they are and with the odd exception i can tell you what they are worth, From my experience most dealers will only pay 50% of the value and Ebay is the only place to sell them for the good money, The market depending on the artist and the Beatles are THE most collected artist can get very fierce at times, I sold a Hendrix LP last for over £500 when its only really worth half of that but hey if someone wants it they will pay what they want for it, Its all good

I had them for sale on here before at £900 but my dad changed his mind, you asked about them then, but he changed his mind before I replied to you with the details.

No worries mate, Like i said i have them already but always on the look out for better, lol, could have given you the full spec on what they were before you sold them though, As long as you made some £ and are happy thats all that matters, Without a doubt Ebay was the best place to sell them

Considering one of the best multi-channel audio formats is designed in Norn Iron, I'd say we're pretty much past vinyl and its current trendiness.

No point spouting rubbish like vinyl is better than digital.

Well, I didn't spout it, and as the ear is the only non-constant in the chain, your ear must prefer digital.
