iTunes Match
So I have >5,000 tracks on my laptop, some are ripped from my CD's, all new ones are from iTunes.
A couple of the ripped ones jump, scratched CD or something. I thought if iTunes Match recognised it I could overwrite it with "their" copy? That not the case?
N.B. This is updating it from the original library on the laptop, not on an IOS5 device.

Correct.
Edit: Actually, i am not sure, it may well depend on the bitrate of that certain track i.e if it is lower than 256kbps.
Jack will be here in a minute.

Apparently if the track is matched you can delete it and grab the iTunes version from the cloud (not sure how yet).
However, this track, "S.Y.M.M" from Manic St Preachers This is my truth tell me yours is set as "uploaded".. every other track on that album is "matched".
S.Y.M.M. has a nasty jump half way in. I assumed Match could give me a clean version.

It's times like this even a die hard like me may turn to the pirate bay.
I used these instructions but think they might be Mac only http://macdailynews.com/2011/11/15/h...-itunes-match/

Worked perfectly for me but I still don't quite see the value in it for most people. For me it was a cheap and simple way to upgrade the quality of my purchased music and it did that faultlessly. I don't use it on my iPhone nor iPad as they have huge capacity so I carry my entire library. It's not something I'd go out of my way to recommend.
