I had that with a van in my street, so I pushed it into the middle of the road, and within 30 minutes the police come and removed it. It was there for a couple of weeks before that!

Not true anymore as the law has changed: if its not insured or MOT'd its not legal and can be confiscated+crushed.
Since the rules of continuous insurance were implented during last year, all cars must either be insured or declared SORN. It can't be SORN as it has tax.

If its small car, its quite possible for two strong men to lift both rear wheels by grabbing the wheel arches and lifting it clear of the ground.
We used to do it to my mates Polo on his driveway and swing his car round 90 degrees so it was stuck
Very funny - which reminds me, we did something very similar to a guy in work who drove a smart car.
4 of us managed to move it to a different parking space in the work carpark
We did a similar thing to a friend in school. He had a classic mini and we managed to carry it between 2 trees which were just about the right distance apart.
Anyway - he said he pushed it, didn't mention anything about a trolleyjack
Depends which pair of wheels the handbrake operates and whether it was left in gear on the other pair of wheels. He said it was a van, and I would expect the drive and the handbrake to operate on the one pair of wheels. Lifting them with the trolleyjack makes it possible to move it. I have done that in the past. Unlikely to be left in gear anyway. If he pushed it without a trolleyjack, it must have had the handbrake off and not been in gear anyway.
I thought that the MID was "live" and it was the database that plod uses.......

Not very good then if its the same system as the police, my friend got pulled the other day for no insurance even though he'd been paying it for two months. Turns out there database is outdated quite often.
