Default Is it worth going to the jewellery quarter in Birmingham

We are looking at buying our weddings rings and someone said I should have a look there as you can get some good deals

Is it worth me coming up from Kent is it any good.

Thanks

I have a friend that works over there if you give me an idea of what you want, he can usually get tidy price discounts.

I'm off there soon to get mine.

It's worth it for me, but I'm only 30 mins away. But I did used to go there even when I lived in Wrexham.

I would stillbsay it's worth it as the prices are better, and you have more chance to get something a bit more unusual.

Meh. Hit and miss I think.

I have the odd swagger around to look at second hand watches. Jewellry I can't comment on, there are lots pf places, but it all depends on what you want to spend:

If you're feeling flush try and look up Chris Shellis (Borgezie). He made one of the solid gold/diamond tank watches I have.

Also makes gold/diamond stilettoes.

His workshop/office used to be located in the Big Peg building, not sure if he's moved since though.

Got our wedding rings from there as well as the missus engagement ring. However it's not that far from us, driving up from Kent I'm not so sure. Does London have an equivelent.....?

For our wedding rings we were pointed in the direction of Newey's and it was a useful find as they had pretty much every normal style of wedding ring available in every size so we could leave with them the same day. As we weren't after anything out of the ordinary it was fine, got a platinum ring to match the missus engagement ring and I went for the same just wider. If you want something out of the ordinary I'm sure they'd be able to make it.

Would highly recommend it - although I am only down the road.

Would highly recommend the Diamond Centre on the main road by the side of the cop shop If they don't have what you need then you can have one made.

Worth going - if only for a trip out. You can always end up in the Mailbox, Bullring etc for a day/night out if you don't land any jewellery

Thought it was the jewellery centre of this country. Must be worth a look I'd have thought.

Surely Hatton Garden would be easier to get to, for you?

I drove 100 miles to go there, because i knew having been there before it was the best/easiest place to go. Nearly every shop is a jewellery shop. Lots of choice.
