You never get a free phone on any contract, you get a phone on credit.

It is always better to buy the phone outright from which ever angle you look at it.

actually for my simonly to phone upgrade it seemed like id make a small saving getting the phone on a contract
that may have just been vodafone giving me a crap deal mind

but yup you always pay for the phone even if its "free", payments spread over the term of the contract basically etc

The nearest one there to what I have is £15.50 a month so the phone would have to be under £55 to work out cheaper for me????

I'd stop buying phones off the market and go to a proper phone shop

On a serious note I know specs aren't everything, but on paper it has a poor screen, a single core processor and not much RAM. A desire HD is better and that is about a year older. £200 is about what I'd expect to pay.

Unlike some manufacturers they have at least built a phone that isn't a design clone of Apple's iPhone

Perhaps thats why they managed to build something so much better than the iphone then, I was sent one of each by T-mobile and I sent the iCrap back to them.

That's why I said on paper. I've never seen the screen, but looking at the specs it's nothing special. If it had more RAM I'd be tempted to buy one.

With a Qualcomm MSM8255 and only 512mB RAM, it's never going to be one of the best on the market. Looks like Sony were aiming for the middle of the range when this was released. It's definitely out of date by today's standards and it's price reflects that.

Sold mine for £86. Would have been a good phone except for the sony engine over the top of android. The other bug bear was it wouldn't mesh to my mac without me forking out for 3rd party software.

These threads make me laugh. All of SN Team Apple bar one is here present and correct making all the ususal comments. Do you lot really feel that insecure about your choice of phone that you jkust HAVE to comment on every phone thread regarding how superior the iPhone is? It's a complete oxymoron!
