i bought my son a GBA for his birthday. I'm not really interested in those sort of things having reached the grand age of 35 but looked at it the other day and it appeared very difficult to see the screen. Should it have a backlight? Can't find the instructions so don't know but can't believe its right otherwise there will be a lot of eye strained youngsters in this country.

Nope, they dont. Ridiculous aint it? Apparently there is a way of changing the contrast, but this means dismantling the GBA and therefore your warantee goes and you could end up with a buggered GBA.

Best solution is one of those clip on light things.

You can get a back light however you need to open up your Gameboy to do this but it make the game playing a hell of alot better and easier

Thumbs up

You can buy one here, but it will void the warranty and require some soldering.

The GBA screen, I agree, is very bad. Apparently Nintendo did this to keep the wieght down and to save on battery power

I think the screen is improved on the later verion though ?
