Default Watches..

Hoping to tap into some knowledge if possible..

My 30th is coming up, and I fancy a new watch. I'd love a Seamaster, but I can't really justify the expense, as we are currently saving to moving house later in the year. I quite like the look of some of the TW Steel watches I have seen online, but I haven't seen one in the flesh yet.. I also quite like the idea of a kinetic movement (or anything else that means I don't have to replace the battery).

Budget wise, I only want to spend around £300..

Does anyone have any links to any good websites ? Or even better, stores where I would be able to actually take a look at the watch prior to purchase ?

I've got a TW Steel and it's quite nice, but it can't hold a candle to my Seiko Monster - better built, automatic movement, solid feeling, etc. I've also got a Tag Heuer Carrera, which cost more than 10 times as much as the Seiko, and I still prefer my Monster!

For me you can't beat an eco drive, I have this one but paid £300 quid for one a few years ago.

I got a Casio Wave Ceptor which looks good and keeps perfect time from the atomic clock time signal.

Never regretted it.

2nd hand quartz tag heuer f1 or aquaracer or 2000 series..... Will still be worth £300 next year and the year after, and the year after that....... You can always trade it in against the Seamaster when you can afford it!

Tw steel are overpriced fashion watches IMHO.

Wise words. If you cant buy what you want with the budget you have, then either do as suggested above, or save the money until you can, but dont waste it on tat.

A clean boxed SM automatic can be bought used for 2.5x wgat you have now, so its not that far out of reach and itll not lose money, unlike TW and their like...

Thanks for the advice folks..

I've got a few in my short-list now, I just want to see them in the flesh before I make a decision.. But I quite like the look of these;

http://www.watchshop.com/mens-tissot...p99931397.html

http://www.watchshop.com/mens-tissot...p99931395.html

I will get myself a SM at some point, but not just now.. I could go and splash out on a new one now, it's not a case of not being able to afford it, more so that I would rather put that money to a better use..

That was my understanding. Better not waste the money though, which is how Id regard spending it on a TW...

Have a look at the Tissot Visodate - RRP is higher but they can be bought for your £300 budget. They wont retain their value, like an older TAG Heuer will though.
