just booked up to go in may for a few days with the wife to be. always fancied going see all the mountains etc as looks a really nice (if a little boring,lol) country.

Great country make sure you get a motorway toll ticket if you get caught by the police on the motorway without the fines are massive

Yes, flew into Basel Mulhouse, got hire car, drove for 2 hours, had 2 hour meeting, drove back, hire car broke down, got back to airport, flew home.

I go most weeks - usually Zurich. Used to ski in Verbier every winter when I was younger - mind you that was mostly Chelsea relocated to a mountain!!!

The Swiss are very dull and sensible - no speeding, being out of the ordinary. For example it is quite hard to find tickets for the trams and there are no conductors. But if you get caught on a tram without a ticket you are screwed.

Be sensible and you should enjoy it. Fabulous scenery, super clean rivers, clean air, gorgeous.

been to lake geneva 24 times in my life,

it was lovley in years gone by, but it seems water quality is down a bit id say.
altho absolutley spectacular scenery for most way round it, id recommend a trip up the valley you can see from the lake, the scenery just gets better and better, roads great quality.
expensive to holiday ther tho, ive got family there so expense is well down for me, we go near lausanne, and will continue to go visit my grandmther for many years to come.

to me the higher up mountains you can get the more enjoyable it becomes, espif youre not really been exposed to that before - can be epic

I was part of a Subaru Legacy meet in September that drove up from Lake Como, into Switzerland and over the Apls to Lucern. We stopped there for the night before heading up into Germany and to the Nürburgring the next day.

Switzerland is stunning... I certainly hope to return one day.

I spent a lot of my holidays as a kid with my parents in Geneva and Zug and they are some of the best memories of my childhood. It really was a fantastic stunning place then and I can't imagine it having gone down hill. I've been back once as an adult skiing and everything just ran like clockwork. Oh and the beer is great

It was expensive when I had my honeymoon there 4 years ago. I've since been back with work once or twice a year and the exchange rate make things eye wateringly expensive.

But I find it picture postcard stunning. The train up to the Jungfrau is epic.

cheers guys. i no its going to be expensive there after seeing the hotel prices for 2 nights,haha

will defo go up into the mountains for the day as i can only imagine the scenary and views are awesome. wont be driving though as not really worth it for a few days i dont think and id probs get lost,haha

with the hotel you get a free travel pass for buses and trams etc around the area, which is quite good i feel

will probabaly just get the train from geneva to montreux, then maybe on the day we come back, spend half a day in lausanne on the way back

i can always go back another time to visit other places, but always been somewhere i wanted to go to see what its like

I've been there loads of times, cycled through it twice when I was younger and been many times for work. Expensive, efficient, clean, lovely scenery, just the people are more 'German' than the Germans - they can be very rude and arrogant.

I regularly drive through there and my best mate lived there for a few years in tichino (sp) which is the "itialian" part, im told it's a lot more relaxed and they are not quite so up themselves, which i find difficult to believe, no different to the english we are superior attitude, they are nice people and make you feel welcome, but they have a good education system and everyone is smart so they don't suffer fools, they are not rude just very matter of fact, they like a good time too and the girls are not shy

I have been to Interlaken a couple of times and done the usual touristy things like Bern and mount pilatus(sp)..

I loved Switzerland....Really is lovely and peaceful.No yobs and drunken idiots....lol....

We have our HQ on Lac Leman (canton of Vaud) and it's one place I would consider relocating too, if ever I was asked.

For all it's niceness, it still has a few problems we can identify with. At Morges train station I once saw a granny drinking Heineken with a straw at 8.30am.

All I would say is that if you're invited to go, make sure you have a return flight ticket and no one sneaks in an air freight flight on the way back for you....

Rumour has it Freddy Mercury chose to live out his final few years in Montreux as it was the most beautiful place he had ever seen... Nice rumour but it is a stunning location to say the least!

I live in Canton Zug and I wouldnt want to live anywhere else in the world! The really expensive things here are Hotels, public transport (if you dont have any half price/concession cards) and eating out - the three things all tourists need to do - which is why it is expensive to visitors.

Most Swiss are considered boring and seemingly just play by the rules - there is a good reason to that - most Swiss dont like to **** off other people. If everyone plays by the rules you get a civilised country with low crime rates, high standard of living and everything works as expected. As for being rude and arrogant? 10 years here and they seem about as arrogant as anywhere in the world but they dont like it if you do things that are not socially acceptable and will let you know - overtake in a dangerous place and they flash their lights, speed and they flash their lights, make noise after midnight and they will ring the cops, etc. Its all about conforming to unwritten rules of decency so everyone gets a fair deal - but things are slowly changing - expecially in the larger towns and cities.

Quality of life here is still amazing and as for being boring - only if you dont like going outside

Not been to Switzerland but have visited my mother's birthplace not far from Salzburg. I imagine that the scenery will be very similar and believe me, you will be impressed.

there anything or anywhere you would recommend do, on my list is Château de Chillon and rochers de naye

bearing in mind only for 2 full days, so going to interlaken maybe out of the question, not sure

Went spent a few days in Geneva in 2004.

I remember Château de Chillon being interesting, some great views as you walk round from the station in Montreux. Don't remember too much else there.

Worth getting the train into Geneva for a day.

There is a town called Yvoire on the southern shore of Lac Leman which is worth a day visit for sure.

No, I stayed quite near and managed to avoid it for 2 weeks.

Grindlewald would be my idea of nice in that area.

You're best visiting somewhere like villars. Get a cable car up, walk around, cycle, paraglide. You could probably get there on public transport.
