I had a double hernia opperation in August last year. Whilst the pain killers were great, they managed to trap a nerve and I had to take a nerve block for a month or two until it died down.
If you're not happy, go to your GP and ask to see your consulant.

I also had an inguinal hernia op in April this year. As yours still hurts I assume you had open surgery rather than keyhole?
I also had open surgery however I was driving after a week and at work after a fortnight. I believe that my experience is more typical so it's probably worth going to your GP if you're not happy.
(I'd say that I had "discomfort" rather than pain and I put the discomfort down to the reinforcing nylon mesh that was inserted. I had a further op in June in the same area and, while this was a bigger procedure, it was less painful/uncomfortable).

I had keyhole for the same procedure as you in jan this year, and was pretty much back to normal in 3 weeks.
Didn't like being inflated with air though......that was uncomfortable!

I had one quite a few years ago now and it wasn't keyhole surgery. I was back to normal within a few weeks although completely black and blue.
I had quite strong painkillers including suppositories for the first week and then it was fine.
You should go back to the doctor to check that nothing is infected or trapped.

I had my second hernia op years ago and had open surgery also. As it was the second in the same place they fitted plastic mesh inside to help the tissue and muscles stronger. How usual this is I don't know but for around 2 years after I was still having pain, but it was only a numbness pain so nothing really worry about.
As mentioned, if your not sure then go back to the dr and see what they say
