Default Best train station to get into London

Hi,

looking to get into Elephant and Castle before 10am'ish tomorrow.

Don't want to pay for a ridiculously priced ticket only to be then given time contions etc. and alsop can't wait till later for a cheaper ticket due to when I need to be there for.

Normally drive to Luton Centre and then get the train from there (about £25) but wondered if there's a closer option from Birmingham station wise that doesn't go far out from the Luton ticket price? Watford? Elsewhere?

Thanks peeps

I want to drive in as far as possible and then train it in. So far Luton represents the best 'halfway-house' - with other options being Bicester, Banbury etc
