I have the old Planar 2 with RB250 arm, heavy acrylic platter and denon mc cart, if it's anything like that you'll love it. Got much vinyl already? Get on discogs, it's a good site.

A good record player will beat any currently available MP3 player hands down, at least up to 16 bit/44.1 kHz. It just cannot compare. Ok you have to go through the hoops of cleaning the record, putting it on the turntable, changing it halfway through etc etc but if your music is more important to you than merely the convenience of digital, vinyl is still the way to go, every time.

I think the audio-luddite regards the Technics as a DJ TT, just for scratching and all round abuse. They are very capable bits of equipment, always welcoming of a bit of modding but very capable.

The RP1 is a great entry turntable by the way. Couldn't keep them in stock here.

RP2 here with goldring 1085 cartrage, if possible get it on a puka turntable wall shelf mounted on a brick not plasterboard wall, also make sure its set dead level and cartrage alined with a cartrage protractor and tracking weight is bang on, as regas have no suspension. If you get them on a vibration free surface and set up properly you will be blown away.

I`ve paid more than twice that for an LP in the past, Granted i knew it was worth more and was only ever going to increase in value, Still got it in my collection too, A bit of local music history IMO as it was recorded about 500 yds from where i lived, Oh and thats if you like 60`s/70`s Psychedelic/Progressive Rock

Didn't know that Lyric did Bose! Suppose it suits their customers. Used to love going in and seeing their upmarket BO TV's that were rebadged Philips models.

If you paid to see a band live, would you expect outisde extraneous noises like somone drilling the wall? Another band next door? Doors slammming? Someone letting off fireworks? The rumble of tube trains all the time?
Nope, nor would I.....so I now listen to CDs

Used to have an sharp linear tracking both sides deck at one time with audio technica cartridges
Moved on to a nice direct drive turnatable from pioneer with a low mass arm and moving coil cartridge...
great until the then youngest now eldest ran the deck backward with the arm on the platter... goodbye brand new cartridge...
just been looking for a replacement Stylus assy cheapest i can find is about £55 ouch!!!

Going back to the original poster, cracking turntable! First proper turntable i had was a planar 3, and was very happy with that for a long time. Enjoy!
