Probably not exciting for everyone, but I've been a commissioning engineer on the Astute project for just over 6 years now and this vid is a culmination of a **** load of effort from loads of people. A block 3 then 4 tomahawk missiles recently test fired in the US, massive Hi 5's for everyone involved.

I had a tour of HMS Vanguard when she was in dry dock for maintenance. Was such a good experience to see and go in something so massive and so powerful. Inside these things is a health and safety nightmare. There are a million different ways to knock yourself out or smash your kneecap open. None of the big wide corridors to go running through like in the films.

Luckily I'm short so I don't hit my head to often, but got a scare on my ankle from jumping out of bed (I say bed, its the stowage for a missle/torpedo) and cracking my foot off a steel support.

The beds looked pretty brutal, top-middle-bottom bunks and if you lie on your back and get a hardon in the night it will pretty much touch the ceiling of your bunk

The biggest surprise is how chaotic everything is and how no space is wasted. The hardest job on the boat must be that of the galley staff who must figure out where they tucked random foodstuffs. Milk might be in the bomb shop at the front and spuds somewhere near the back - it's crazy where things end up getting stored.

I have a picture of when I was onboard and Astute hit the isle of skye, no explosion though thank god.....and I'll probably get in the cr@p if I publish it.... not its proudest moment.
