I have no idea what the people of Egypt expected: They had focus to remove the leader, great. But they had no plan as to what to do next. So you get the military stepping in and taking control.
Not really what you want and a backwards step in my opinion, but they were happy at the time ...

I've heard a number of reports out of Egypt saying that there is a groundswell of feeling away from the central square demos that the country should be a bit more patient, hold the elections and see how it goes. But it will be a struggle to get shot of the military who run/control around 30% of the country's economy.
Syria seems to be in a league of its own at the moment though and there is sod all anyone can do about it really as a civil war seems inevitable. Unless........ someone sticks a bullet in Assad's head.
Iraq? Any one's guess but I hope it does come out of the other side.
Afghanistan. Not a snowball's. Get our poor f,ucking soldiers out and let the Taliban get on with it.
