Default Bad turn monday night......... Now with update.

Posting this now as I seem to be fully recovered today.

Monday night. ONE normal-sized drink all night.
Just had my evening meal.
After about an hour I started by feeling sick. Then dizzy, then as if I was going to black out, you know, that sort of loss of vision around the edges. I wasn't actually sick, but the nausea lasted all night.

Managed to sit down and the blackout feeling went away after about half an hour, but I was left feeling disorientated, and confused.
So much so that TWO hours later I COULD NOT remember where I had been that day And my wife thought I was drunk as I was slurring words and acting confused.

The next day was better, but I still felt sort of "detached" from what was going on round me.

Today I'm fine again.

WTF was THAT all about?
Not off to doc's, he will want to do all sorts of tests, but it's gone now and he can't do anything about something that isn't there any more.

Listen bud, I REALLY hope this isnt the case, but it sounds very like a mini stroke. Best of luck at the docs, he/she will put your mind at rest.

I hope all is good.

I forgot the exact name of it but it sounds like a type of stroke.

There was a footballer recently had one, something to do with fluids going to the brain.

ischaemic stroke, which happens when blood supply to part of the brain is decreased, leading to dysfunction of the brain tissue in that area.

You describe those symptoms then you say you are NOT going to the docs

Obvious what is wrong with you..... feckin screw loose!

Not medical professional by any means but sounds like a mini stroke or a cracker of a panic attack (although wouldn't really fit with the loss of memory)

Please at least explain to the doc what happened

Transient Ischemic Attack

TIA or mini stroke..

A guy I used to work with had a TIA (his descripton was very similar to your) last year, couldn't be bothered going to the doctors about it, despite all our advise

Three weeks later we were all at his funeral, because he had a massive stroke in the night

DOCTORS ASAP!

Seriously, Do it please. Ive seen first hand the effects of stroke and it's not something you want to suffer. It may be nothing and the worst is you've wasted the Doctors time. But do go see them.

Personally I wouldn't bother with the GP or A&E - I had something similar happen while driving, no alcohol at all involved. I panic'd a little, mainly about my loss of vision and loss of speech, m bro ran me to A&E where a junior doctor was very quick to tell me i'd had a stroke, and referred me on to a T.I.A clinic. Not happy with the outcome decided because it was eye related to go see an optician. She told me from a scan of the back of my eye, that I absolutely had not had a stroke, but in her professional opinion it was an occurrence of ocular migraine. In 30 years of practice she had only encountered it twice before my visit. I attended the T.I.A clinic the consultant did a lot of test which were inconclusive. he concluded it was as likely to have been ocular migraine as anything else. In the eyes of insurance companies, I was referred to a stroke clinic, I am therefore high risk.

Optician sees ocular migraine twice in his/her time, and then you see another likely suspect on SN? Convinced enough to suggest NOT to go to A and E? Im surprised we dont see more ocular migraine adverts on telly, and bin the pointless stroke adverts.

OP, off to A & E now if you haven't already gone please.

Two cases in 30 years of eye migrane versus the thousands of stroke related deaths - I'd be on the phone to NHS24 at the very least !

If my car insurance goes up - at least I'll be around to bitch about it

ok my hubby had an incident a few mnths ago , he was sat watching telly when he basically lost his vision when it came back he was disorientated, he went to the dr who sent straight to hospital we feared stroke was even put on stroke ward he was confused he couldnt tell dr where he lived didnt even know what he liked to eat, couldnt walk proper eyes droopy all the same symptoms as a stroke, spent a week in hospital having tests cat scans and mri scans turned out to be a brain stem migraine which copied the symptoms of a stroke was very scary, but yes get yourself to the dr asap just to put your mind at ease

I've had similar a couple of times, spoke to the doc who did a few checks and said it was just a bad migrane.

DEFINATELY get it checked though.

I have opthalmic migraines, and quite frankly, the op's symptoms sound more like classic TIA. Can only reiterate what everyone else has said. Stop faffing about, and get to the doc's.

you need to seek medical advise and imo you should have gone last night

its very common to see people have small stokes and not realise but the problem is the small ones are telling you something is very wrong and often most will go onto have a big one within a year.

hope its nothing and its was just something silly but please do your self the biggest favour and go get it checked out!!!! nhs is free afterall

Since Alcazar is showing offline on SN I'm hoping he's on his way to A&E.

Good luck

If you had slurred speach and memory loss you really should get checked out. Are you one of those that wont go to the docs? My mother is like that. She was really ill early this year and my godmother practically had to drag her to the hospital.

Go, now!

And good luck mate.

Will go see my own doc tomorrow. I suppose he could refer me on?

Cheers for advice, scary as it is, and obvious concern.
Thankyou.
