Red face Brace Yourself on Tuesday!!

A huge asteroid about the size of an aircraft carrier will zoom past our planet next week, flying between the Earth and the orbit of the moon when it flies by on Tuesday (Nov. 8).

This would tie in with predictions of the end of the world coming in 2012! If it hit us!

Well if it does then at least you can go out with a bang, satisfied that you've finally posted something with a hint of truth on Scoobynet.

Surely it would need to hit us next year, and not Tuesday, for that to be the case?

But was the meteorite that hit millions of years ago almost 1/3 the size of this planet? I'm sure it was earth but could have been 1/3 size of the moon, either way it's a complete different story than you're talking about

If you're talking about the one that killed the dinosaurs then estimates are that is was about 7-10 miles wide. Hardly 1/3 the size of the earth (or moon). It does not take a lot to cause massive disruptions to the climate.

Saying that, it caused a global winter, that was survived by mammals ..

Surely with the Safe style double glazing offer we'd all be fine.

Certainly can make you feel uneasy to watch that programme about the Mayans. They have been pretty accurate with their predictions!

Wonder how its size compared to that one which made the enormous crater in Arizona.

There is another huge Asteroid passing us in 2029, it has been calculated that this one will pass by Earth with a mere 18,000 miles!!
