Sad that the first response to a speeding motorist is to draw a gun

Sadly too many of them have been shot approaching stopped cars ..

Considering the speed and the way he was driving you'd expect her to assume the car was stolen, but I wouldn't imagine her colleagues think much of that

This problem is that in the US a police officer can rent themselves out as private contractors. As many officers get their own patrol car issued they often use their police car for these private jobs and this is a classic example of how they use their authority when off duty, they use their E-Z pass on the toll roads and such like.

I know a few US cops, and I know quite a few in the FHP.... they are generally very relaxed and a "badge" gets you a loooong way in the US, unlike the UK... but this trooper had obviously been on the look out for this guy....

Could of just pulled him over and had a word?
well over the top getting a gun out and handcuffs but then they love a bit of drama the yanks.

Great place to stop as well , right near the fast lane.

In the USA you stop on either side on most roads like that

Side arm was more than justified. Dont forget that the policing areas in the US are quite small for city cops, so his local PD car was also probably well out of area, doing 120mph....

Agreed, it was justified, especially with the failing to stop. The FHP even says he scared the hell out of her.

Bang to rights! 120mph doing a "private" job. He might aswell have been in his own personal car. Don't blame her at all for pulling her gun and cuffing him. Could easily have been stolen!
