Result!
I managed to wash my mobile in my jeans, only found it after the wash had finished. Not the smartest thing i have ever done but by no means the stupidest
Removed the battery, soaked the phone in clean water for several hours to remove any detergents, etc. Dried the phone for several days in the airing cupboard and heh presto it worked...for about three weeks!
I have mobile insurance through my bank account and put in a claim. Sent the phone off. After a few days i received notification that is was beyond repair. They informed me i would get a refurbed unit - OK.
My replacement handset arrived this morning. A brand new phone (new charger and headset as well) and battery but not a direct replacement by the later, better specc'd phone!

I only found out recently that the HTC's have a white tab near the battery that turns pink if the phone has been in contact with water, one of the lads at work dropped his Hero in the toilet

I don't know about smart phones but there was a programme about what to do if you drop your phone in water.. the best result was to instantly strip it down and hoover it like crazy - the instant sucking dries it out better then leaving it to condensate & rot the solders..

It doesn't have to be an iHoover though, does it ....
