Yes I did not know that but I am not surprised.
In those dark days many children joined the Hitler Youth. The boy scout movement had been banned and it was started as a propaganda exercise by the ***** in an effort to create an organisation of Aryan style superiority.
Young children did not understand the full significance of such an organisation or its aims.
I have known people who were members when they were children and they explained their lack od understanding as described above which is what you might expect from young children.
They all without exception denounced Hitler and all his actions. Their understanding of what was really happening was a great shock in their later lives.
