Default Marco Simoncelli RIP.

I don't normally watch Moto GP races but decided to sit and watch todays race. There was a terrible crash on the first lap unfortunately Marco Simoncelli succumbed to his injuries a sahort while ago.

A sad week for motorsport with Dan Wheldon as well

I'm sitting just stunned. The crash was horrific. Marco was my favourite rider in Moto GP-so charasmatic with such a passion for his sport. Rossi will be devastated-they were really good friends.

He was,IMHO, a legend in the making.

RIP #58, you will certainly be missed.

Just watched on record after the rugby with no idea of result. I thought he had died as soon as I saw him lying in the track without a helmet.

The image of his gf crying in the pit was pretty sobering.

RIP Marco.

Just horrific. Edwards and Rossi couldn't avoid hitting him. I think that Colin Edwards will retire after this.

Tears being shed in the Ritchie household this morning.

A sad day and a very sobering sight to see him lieing there. He had a great future and was a breath of fresh air to the moto gp paddock.I feel sorry for Colin Edwards there was nothing he could do.Condolences to Marco's family and freinds.

Was sitting watching it with my little boy, he's only 2 and even he said "oh no!" when the accident happened.
Expected the worst when his helmet came off.
Very sad day indeed. Was such an exciting rider to watch and he'll be missed RIP Marco

Horrible horrible accident.

Such a freak accident 1 second earlier and he'd still be here

Agree with the Edwards comments, how must he feel.

Think we forget how dangerous motor sport can be, all come back into perspective this week though, tragic. Have never heard of a helmet coming off, terrifying.

Rip Marco, such a great guy with so much talent to loose in such a tragic way. Thoughts go out to friends and family.
Poor lad didn't stand a chance once the helmet was off!

Looks like it was immediate when he was hit. They spent 30 minutes trying to resuscitate him before pronouncing.

RIP and blessings to all family and friends.
