Default accepting paypal for car sale

hi all someone has emailed wanting to buy a car and wants to pay by paypal, apart of the obvious fees i think 2.4percent is there anything that can go wrong doing it this way. ie there is nothing wrong with the car, but if he drives like a wally so to speak and something mechanical occurs days later ie anything, can he stop the payment, the value is £10000. any advice thanks

There's so many loop holes with paypal I wouldn't take it as payment for a car. If he's got the cash to cover why doesn't he just get you a bankers draft - a much safer option IMHO. Problem with paypal is it always seems to side with the buyer

Hell no, maybe take a small deposit (£100) to hold the car untill they sort the funds out through other means (Bank Transfer/Cash) i wouldn't even accept a Counter cheque, far to many fraudulant ones of those aswell.

The only way i would accept a £10K payment would be in either cash or Bank Transfer, There is no need for the guy to use paypal unless it not his account/card IMO

I took a 1k deposit for my evo 8 via paypal (buyer owned a garage in france). I did this though as it was going to be 6 weeks later when he was coming over to collect the car with the rest in cash so no way of him doing a claim back. I wouldnt take the full amount though bank transfer would be the way to do it

I had a quick browse through some of the posts and as far as I can see, the folk having problems with paypal seem to have quite complicated financial setups and it's seems little wonder that paypal have stopped funds/limited accounts.

I was looking for some real horror stories against thousands of joe bloggs's but didn't see very much like that at all?

I've used Paypal regularly for about 7-8 yrs and never had a problem.

Still wouldn't suggest selling a car through Paypal though.

I wouldn't consider it if only because of paypal's extortionate fees, never mind their complete lack of morals, security, or transparency
