Ye Gods! Must wear mask AND goggles!
This morning saw me stuffing insulation between the rafters prior to tacking up a vapour barrier and then plasterboard. I've had to resort to tacking string "hangers" across the beams every foot or so to support it, or it sags back out
The insulation is rockwool, and does it shed fibres? You'd better believe it! I've had to find a decent mask, plus goggs, but even the quite expensive mask seems to force breathed out air up past my nose, so fogging the goggs. They become foggles, and have to be removed and wiped every two minutes or so.
Now my hair, eyes and throat seem clogged with fibres.
Got an area of around 8 sq m done, one of the worst ones where I have to work above my head at the angle of the roof. The rest wil be easier, crawling about on beams unrolling the stuff.
Worse job than sweeping crap off beams, that's for sure. Couldn't do this for a living

rockwool is nasty nasty stuff.
get down to arco and get a paper coverall suit with a hood get goggles, mask and some decent gloves.
will save a lot of itching and anoyance.

I nicked a fan assisted full face helmet from work when I cleared our roof space out. Absolutely fantastic thing, highly recommended for that sort of malarkey

When I cleared all the insulation out of the loft for building my railway it was a horrible job and it's still not 100% up there 3 years on. Its not a proper conversion as I couldn't afford the £20K costs.
Between the rafters, I've put that recycled stuff which is made from plastic bottles. Not cheap but no nasty fibres. I've used thin board to attempt to make it look a bit more like a room going up to the horizontal beam (same level as railway) and all behind there I used the space blanket stuff.
