M40 or not?
Usually when I go down to see my girlfriend (Kent) I use the M25 / Dartford crossing. I usually leave at 11am...ish and get over the bridge before 4pm, when it starts getting manic! This time I can`t leave till 12.30 (have to attend a defib course at work) so that`s gonna put me at the wrong place at the wrong time so to speak. A mate in work said I`d be better off going down the M40 as it`s usually a quieter stretch than the usual way. My question is, does anyone know this route and would I be better off or is it just as busy? Ta

M40 is mostly always better,on the M1 you have miles of roadworks heading toward the M25
M40 EXIT JNC 1A for M25 either keep left for M25 NTH,or keep right For M25 STH,I would go sth but still be ready to get delayed in traffic by Heathrow.More roadworks on M25 nth too than sth.

M40 is probably one of the most reliable trunk routes. From the north M6, then the toll road, M42 then M40 will be quicker 90% of the time to pretty much anywhere in London apart from the north east.
