yeah was thinking Covent Garden - I love people watching
Was thinking the aquarium / tower of london but seriously £20 each to get into each one? I know its touristy, but i think UK nationals should get a cut rate

go buy a paper in WH Smiths, they were dishing out 2 for 1 tickets to Tussauds type attractions last week!
Last time i went up town i went to London Dungeon then for a walk along the south band, plenty of pubs up towards the Eye, over the other side for a walk back along whitehall to Trafalgar Square and then Leicester Sq or Covent Garden for a bite to eat and a drink
Then a nap after all that walking!

Without ruining the Aquarium too much for you, I went a month or so ago, and found the whole experience there pretty dull for the money. If you're only heading in for a day I'd suggest avoiding this place and spending your money elsewhere.

Bit short notice but for future reference you can save loads by using Tesco vouchers (if you shop there). My gf does it all the time and we got on the London eye for around £10 each using vouchers and that was the express tickets. No waiting in the huge ques just walk straight on
Theatre maybe. Go to the ticket tout booths as they can be quite cheap. Or maybe an experience in the plush Leicester Square cinema, will cost around 3 times as much as a normal cinema though
This is a good way to travel, but its not that interesting tbh. Another good saving with the tesco vouchers though lol

I second the picnic in a park idea, St James' is nice.
V&A museum is free and in a nice part of London to stroll around.
A walk along the southbank to the Tate, checking out the various riverside pubs.
National Portrait gallery at Trafalgar Square is free, and right in the thick of things.
Shopping at One New Change, conveniently next to St Paul's for a looks around.
Drinks at Covent Garden, or some of the backstreets of Regent street are some trendy places.

Was the new penguin attraction open when you went? Is it not really up to much?

Pontificating
Spend the money on the London Eye then have a picnic in St James' Pk, just avoid the Eastern European card sharks on Westminster bridge !!

Look at the other thread, London is a ****hole, avoid at all costs lol.
Hyde park, St James Park, Horse Guards Parade, trip down the river. Covent Garden I agree is great for people watching. Start at Leicester Square or Charing X and work outwards from there in any direction. Plenty of places to reach from there
