The end of BC and AD?
Stars attack BBC over politically correct 'drivel'
The BBC is facing a backlash from leading presenters over suggestions that they should use “religiously neutral” terms instead of “BC" or “AD” to avoid causing non-Christians offence.
Guidance from the broadcaster’s ethics specialists suggested that the modern phrases “common era” and “before common era” should be considered as potential replacements for Anno Domini and Before Christ.

It just says they should be considered, but it is totally retarded. To think the TV tax goes to pay for this BBC bureaucracy whose job it is to think up this useless rubbish!

To be honest I'm surprised the BBC even broadcast in English for fear of offending those 'subjugated' by the British Empire, or use Roman numerals at the end of credits as this might offend those opposed to militarist empires and colonialism.

Anyone interested in reading about this sh*te and getting furious about it should read this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/After-Americ...7054637&sr=8-1
It's practically bursting with stuff like this to annoy you. Tony, I think you especially would like it. Basically just an opinion piece at the end of the day, but an interesting one that's quite funny.

To cap it all, they both refer to the year of Christ's birth as the 'year zero', if you like. So, to avoid offending other religions we change the date system we use for another with exactly the same time-line ....
Complete b*llux!

It is a load of bollox. Perhaps the BBC should also re-think their name as the word "British" may cause offence to a few minorities, with that I would propose the Bollox Broadcasting Corporation.

If the BBC is trying to secularise why did it recently make a documentary about Mohammed? Incidentally said doco completely glossed over the less savory aspects of Mohammed's life.

Robert Spencer and Karen Armstrong were fair, but Tariq Ramadan was al-Taqiyya personified. The presenter seemed to be pitching Shahada to a Blue Peter audience.

So where would you suggest the atheists go? I think the term 'non Christian' is more applicable to them in this case.
I would say that Muslims aren't actually bothered, as they go by their own calender anyway.
Let's not 'over-interpret' this subject, shall we?

Muslims don't use the Gregorian calender at all?

Of course they do Tone, who doesn't? However they are not:
1) Offended by all things Christian, quite the contrary in fact.
2) Dependant upon the Gregorian calender to tell them the time of year, date etc.
Prophets birthday, important events, etc are always done by the Islamic calander, AFAIK.
