Thumbs up Don't do your food shopping until Monday!

Tesco is rumoured to be about to launch a massive price cutting campaign the likes we have never seen before this Monday coming.

Managers have been briefed and all leave has been cancelled as all staff are to be on hand over the weekend to get the shelves and promotions ready.

It is thought that Tesco will abandon all the buy 4 for 3 type offers for a straight price reduction in a desperate attempt to compete with LIDL's and ALDI who sell great quality at very low prices without frills.

Tesco stuff is pretty good actually, I just dislike going in there because the class of customer is very low rent...people with bad manners, personal hygiene problems, very fat people, blokes with shirts off etc

You will normally find that in blind taste tests they normally win or come in the top 4 products against big brands and other supermarkets own products.

Ha ha I normally go to Sainsburys, it's just as close but a more pleasant experience in general.

I never used to think of myself as a snob, but I dislike mixing with the 'proles'.

Got to be honest those times we've been the food is pretty good. The fresh veg isnt great but tesco can be shocking at times. Tesco ready meals are largely inedible gunk. Lidl dont tend to have much ready meal stuff. We used to do some shopping in tesco and some in lidl but ended up spending more lol.

West wales isnt posh enough for waitrose

Maybe, just maybe, Chavsda will now honour theior promise they made when Walmart took over: to lower all prices to the same as the USA within 6 m onths.

So far, not a single one done.

Tescos is good around here, the chav cess pits are Asda and Morrisons, the latter being the worst by far. I shudder every time I have to set foot in the place.

It's not the Chavs it's the people that look like they are on day release from an institution.

Tesco is for overpaid office types who have nothing better to do on an evening than walk round every isle looking for a bargain that dosn't exist ,but wont put a tesco branded product in there trolley for fear of being spotted by afriend /neighbour .

F*** Tesco lidl any day ! better still Morrisons.

All this price war stuff is of course absolute bollox, just another big marketing scam by the supermarkets.

I buy my meat, veg, eggs etc in our local village and can honestly say it is cheaper and much better than what you get in the supermarket.

You are very lucky you have the choice to do this as in most major citys near me the independent butchers/bakers have closed down due to tesco and the like.

Choice is dead unless you have time to drive 10 miles to get fruit and veg from one shop then another 5 miles to find a butcher!

Can't speak for Aldi but in common with most German suppliers, Lidl meat products are good quality. Haven't found much wrong with their other items either.

Lidl is questionable...... I used to work with a lad who would bring in Lidl's own brand microwavable Chicken burger, except it wasn't.... it looked like a chicken burger and the packet just said "burger". On further investigation it was described as a "Poultry Burger" made up largely of Fat, ligaments, arteries and other fillers from non specific poultry.

For this reason alone I will never shop at Lidl.

Aldi on the other hand I find is quality, however the wife shops at Tesco

That's disgusting but normal, most cheap burgers and sausages etc are made up of MRM (mechanically reclaimed meat).

Things like chicken nuggets are even more vile.

Tesco are merely trimming the exorbitant margins they have enjoyed for years off some of their products.

the record profit and growth we keep hearing supermarkets are enjoying in evidence of such. That said, a reduction is very welcome and to be applauded.

As for comments about Lidl, I find their veg to be very fresh and far cheaper than the big brand supermarkets, in addition, their German sourced hams are of a very high standard.

Made me smile when my wife said all of the Sainsburys Basics stuff is normally sold out and their 'Taste the difference' stuff is left on the shelves.

Obviously people are being careful!

(Doesn't bother me if my cashews aren't perfectly whole and are then classed as 'Basics')
