WANTED:- a job
Ok people, as above, im not sure whether this is allowed on the forum or not so mods, please feel free to delete or move if required.
Im based in staffordshire, stoke on trent to be precise and im looking for a job, im currently working in a temporary position after being made redundant back in july, however, its just not me and figure this is as good a time as any to look for something else, obviously i know the jobs market is not good at the moment, but im desperatly hoping someone on the forum might be in a position to help me.
Ive been an insurance surveyor for the last 7.5 years, but would love to get into the motor industry in some capacity, i know it is notoriously difficult to get into with no experience of the industry or past employment in that industry, but have a massive interest and love to learn quickly, so this would be my ideal choice, money isnt a massive motivating factor for me, i would much rather be doing a job i enjoy than be loaded.
Anyway, enough of me babbling on, i thought it might be good to try and get over to people in a different way than the usual cv, email, jobcentre route, so hopefully someone on here may be able to help me out??
Thanks in advance
Steve

Yeh, could travel there no trouble, however, from what i gather they will only be interested in youngsters from college, but will be keeping an eye on it closely as things develop, im not far from toyota on the a50 either, so will be trying them as well as they seem to take on quite regularly, whether thats a good thing or not im not to sure, but worth a try all the same.

Well it all depends on if you want to take a pay cut. I'm fairly certain you'd have to in order to change profession, it's just how much of a cut you are willing to take.

Willing to start at the bottom if im honest, provided im treated fairly with regards to salary and not taken the p1ss out of, im willing to do anything it takes to get into the industry i want, if im honest im probably askng a little much due to my age as historically, motor industry tends to employ young and the ones worth keeping work their way up, its very rare you see an older person taken on in that industry and others that spring to mind due to the fact that hey are automatically assumed to want a salary commensurate with their age, which is simply not the case 100% of the time and certanly not in my case.
There must be someone on these boards that is in my area and recruiting??? Please please please with cherries on top!!! Lol

Its a nightmare to get something atm, but tbh it has been for bloody ages
I have now been out of work since May 2009 and had several interviews but never got anywhere I suffer with a bad back so have to watch what I apply for. I don't have any special qualities and my work history is varied, but mainly something to do with customer services. Even jobs in that field seem to be like gold dust atm
If I was a carer/teacher or if I could sell, then I might be in with a chance as that's pretty much what's still going atm. But I'm not and I couldn't do it. So if there's anyone in March area of Cambs that needs someone (nothing rude lol)
Hope you get yourself sorted out soon

I'm in tbe same boat as you OP, looking at a career change, although it's been 4 years since I was in the saddle.
I'm thinking now is as good a time as any to look for something else.
Good luck!

At the end of the day, the thread was a relaxed way to put the feelers out for any possibility of a job, i may not be 100% right with my english language, but at least i can be seen to be trying hard to look for a job in different areas than the normal, which as far as im aware should stand me in good stead, or at least thats what i,d hope.....

No one is doubting the enthusiasm that you have shown in this thread but unfortunately prospective employers only have your CV to judge whether they should even get you in for an interview. For your sake, please make sure your CV has no errors in it.

Teaching on the other hand, despite there being lots of posts advertised, is quite difficult. I think there is roughly an average of 100 people who apply for each job so even getting an interview is difficult!
OP, I admire your enthusiasm and wish you all the best in your search for work
