Default Apple: Great customer service

Okay, I know there are both lovers and haters of Apple but I was very impressed with Apple customer service.

My iPhone 4 developed a fault with wireless where it couldn't pick up a strong signal and I just called AppleCare, went to see someone at the genius bar and they replaced the phone. No hassle, just great customer service.

Now, whether it should have broken in the first place is a different argument but very few companies would just look at the electronic item, go to the back and give you another one.

I have an appointment tomorrow morning, iPad swap I hope. Going to let them clean the MacBook whilst I'm there and maybe buy a case, and not a cheap plastic one.

Took my ex's iphone back to the Apple store up at Westfield last christmas. He used to keep it in his front shirt pocket, lent over his desk and it fell out, smashing the screen.

Took it back, thought I was going to have a fight on my hands as I had see people say as much on interweb reviews. Pointed out that it was supposed to be reinforced glass, and it was less than a 3 inch drop. She swapped it straight out.

I was looking forward to standing my ground too!

You pay a premium for a premium product, they in turn use that premium to give you great customer service - Excellent!

Then again people pay next to nothing for something, then when it goes wrong they are completely shocked at the terrible customer service because there is not enough profit in the product to offer a good aftercare service.

Yeah great f,ucking service. Battery on my daughter's i-something-or-other went so I bought a new one only to find that I had to break the bloody thing apart to replace a consumable item. Phoned up Apple and they would be delighted to do it for a mere £50.

Fantastic effing design and fantastic effing service for the wealthy

At the rate apple products go wrong I would hope they had good customer service! I doubt the 12 year olds making i phones see much of the profit when they are earning 90 p a day for a 14 hour shift.

Reminded me of the Nike quip .....

Kid begs mummy and daddy for a pair of Nike trainers 'cos all her pals have them.

Dad replies - "Well you're nine bloody years old - go and make some"

People on here bang on about slavery but at least they and their families were fed. Some people who work for apple have to alternate who their pay feeds each day.

Still at least they get subsidized rent on their 12ft by 12ft shack they share with 16 other workers hey jack

Comparing Apple workers to Slavery is a bit rich, especially on an thread that's nothing to do with the negative aspects of consumer electronics, smacks of hate and perhaps guilt.

When I ordered my new MacBook Air I paid for next day delivery - but the courier company screwed up - and I ended up having to drive down to the depot to pick it up - wrote to Apple saying that I didn't think the courier company deserved the charge and they not only refunded the delivery charge but also refunded £30 more to my account to cover the petrol costs of picking the laptop up myself.

I'm confused. A product breaks within the warranty period and the company maker replaces it? Isn't that consistent with the standard transaction terms and conditions? Goods fit for purpose and all that?

As others have said, I have had this on numerous products, never had a problem.

And Jack, what is up with your iPad? My netbook still works fine. Did you 'facetime' with too many chums? I suppose we now agree that Apple are on the same level as their competitors in at least one area.....reliability!

No hassle, just great customer service
Here's the maths:

1. Product cost <£15 to make in china (ignoring the suicides amongst the workers for now)
2. Apple the company is worth $317.6bn
3. Good customer services cost nothing
4. Sales of goods act yadda yadda

Nutshell - Apple can afford to do it so it's not surprising really ?

Unfortunately it's not standard Gear Head. Apple go the extra mile if all possible.

My iPad is the victim of abuse, abuse that would have removed the cheap plastic keys from a net book and broken it's flimsy hinge. It still works perfectly but could be better, hence my visit, I might buy a case if they don't exchange it so soften future blows.

Quite funny how you use facetime as a source of abuse when for years the iPhone not having a front facing camera was used in an attempt to belittle the phones features.

Components do go wrong Gear Head, no one can control that, it's the experience that follows that makes good customer service.

A ladyfriend has an old Macbook that burnt out the socket where the charger plugs in. She was flying through london with a few hours to kill between planes so got the train into the centre, strolled into an Apple shop and they repaired it on the spot for free. The thing must be 5 or 6 years old, so well out of warranty.

Well if it is abuse you are talking about then that is good service.
However you can stay well away from my netbook if you treat all your tech like that!
What do you actually do with your iPad that would cause my netbook to fail?

Couple of weeks back, i went into Apple with my own and the missus Iphone 4's. Both had SLIGHTLY iffy home buttons.

Missus phone had 3 months left warranty and mine was out by a surprising 1 day! I thought it had another month or so, but anyway.

Ten mins later, we were both walking out with brand spanking new phones and had no arguments over them.

No other company will accept defective items back and REPLACE with new ones, as quickly and as easily as Apple do. It's part of what makes Apple, Apple.
