Default Bournemouth Airshow

Can anyone recomend an out of the way spot to watch this or is it best to hit the beach with thousands of others ?

Trying to avoid nightmare parking situations, easy in easy out with the kids and nephews

Any advice welcome

Cheers

Hire a small boat! you would be bound to get "beaten up" by some hooliogan pilot too! Much too tempting a target.

In the past we've just headed to the beach as that's where everything happens really.

What day are you planning on going? We've booked ourselves in to a hotel for this years event so parking will not be an issue for us, but if you are planning on heading down either Saturday or Sunday then make sure you leave in plenty of time. The only reason I say this is because in 2008 and 2009 we went down on the day to visit the show and we had to filter on our motorbikes from Winchester all the way to Bournemouth as the traffic was horrendous.

You can try parking at Asda in Lansdowne, walking down Holdenhurst Road into town... Upstairs in Burger King next to Bournemouth Pier is a bit of a gem for seeing the planes... dont blame me if you get kicked out though

That's the best I can advise... everywhere else will be rammed, guaranteed.

Luckily for me I work 5 mins from the seafront and have a work car park

They do it every year, but the car park isnt very big.

Still, Bournemouth has one thing going for it (Unless you get stuck behind them) - The bus service is pretty damn good for every area.

Are they going to know what it is? The staff probably aren't the most intelligent

Weather's not the best today, but supposed to be better tomorrow. Shame the Vulcan's been grounded, but still some good metal in the sky.

Fuel leak from one of the tanks so it's been grounded.

A fuel leak can be bad news, hope its just a union and not the body of the tank.

Popped down yesterday for a recce and an ice cream, parked at Boscombe and walked along the front to Bournemouth, we saw the Vulcan boys setting up opposite Ramsdens, that was my main reason for going on Saturday tbh

Cant believe the floods, I only walked across the lower gardens yesterday afternoon !

Thanks for the link. The four fuselage tanks are pretty large and there are 5 others in each wing.

I hope its not too difficult to get at the leaking one and that they can cure it.

Sorry that it is going to miss some of those displays, that will be expensive for them to lose the income of course.

All the waters gone now. I popped into town last night, and beside the great big canyon in the road where a storm drain used to live, there's no sign of the floods... the lower gardens had pretty much dried out.

Full displays on today which has been great, and the BOB trio are doing a second display at 7:30. Which is nice.

RIP Jon Egging

Sadly a great day out tarnished by his death.

Maybe the rain in the morning put a few people off but we had no issues getting into Bournemouth or parking or getting out of there.

It had just finished raining when the Red Arrows did their 24 minute routine, exceptional as ever.
Soon after the cloud cover went and it was a glorious afternoon. A bit disapointed the Vulcan was still grounded (as we expected it would be) but to then hear the GR4 Tornado had gone tech kind of took the shine off the afternoon, all of that paled into insignificance once we discovered the news about Red 4.

I had a look at the net to get the latest Cricket score to see the headline on the beeb website, very sad news

Such a shame about the red arrow crash I was on my way down to Bournemouth yesterday for today's show and passed Hurn airport at around the time of the crash without realising what had happened and I only heard the news from my Dad when I reached Poole and I was hoping that it wasn't true

I've watched the red arrows perform more times than I can remember and I even saw them flying over the M40 on their way to Goodwood a few months ago.

RIP Jon Egging

I made the end of yesterday's show after walking along the beach from Poole and made today's show and it was great I normally go to Farnborough for the airshow but it was different to see these guys performing at speed over the sea like that
