Damnit!!! Lost log book and need another urgently, how do I go about it?
Hey folks,
Nightmare!!! I've just sold a car and after filling in the registration document ready to send off, I put it in my bag and got a taxi home. Left the bloody bag in the taxi, lost the document and my bloody sandwiches lol.
Contacted the taxi firm and no joy there, looks like either the driver or some other ******* has nabbed off with it as it did have a few items of value in it
If anyone comes across it can you please return my tikka wrap and snickers please?
In all seriousness though, I've looked on the DVLA website, but can not find out how to get another document, or how to just give the new owners details and get it straight to him.
Any help appreciated as usual

From experiance
if its an old V5 providing a new type hasnt been issued- then a replacement is free, usualy within a week
If its a new v5, a replacement is £25 if i recall, however if your prepared to wait up to 14 days, you can have one FOC
Mart
(that was in 2008) so it may have changed a little bit

If the new owner has got the green supplement v5c/2 then they have to get a v62 fill it out and send both the v5c/2 and v62 to the dvla to get a replacement log book in their name for free. If you still own the car then you need to fill out a v62 and send it off for a new log book but it will cost you £25.

You'll need engine code number so have you got any old MOT certificates which will have it.
Not being clever but everyone should keep a copy of car registration documents!
dl (who has just had to cough up £25 'cos he lost his!)
Hope you get your sarnis back
