BROUGHT or BOUGHT
I get disproportionally irritated by the use of the word 'brought' when it should be 'bought', to the point where i would stop reading a post if i came across 'brought', broughtophobia perhaps. Do people deliberately type or even say the word 'brought' when they have purchased something? or is it just a common typo?

Fully agreed, i simply do not understand how you can "brought a car" and mean that you swapped it for some money. WTF?
How did this abomination even come about ?

Ehh??
Are you saying that in school you were taught to use bRought ?
I can not fathom this at all, brought means that you brought something from somewhere else (im trying to explain it in simpleton terms)
ie: i picked up a didlo and brought it to work
Bought means that you paid money for an object "i have just bought a *****"

Brought is the past tense of to Bring.
When you go to buy something, you buy it, when recounting the tale to friends, you didn't go and bring it, you bought it.
Fairly easy concept really.
Micky, some your old customers are the cause of everything that's wrong in the world.
