Default Medion SatNav "upgrade" means UK postcodes no longer work

About 6 months ago i bought the latest upgrade package for my Medion GoPal satnav.

Good, i thought, some new roads it got confused with i thought i'd be able to put that right.

BUT, nobody told me that with this upgrade, came the unbelievably annoying "improvement" which means i cannot now (used to be able to) use full UK postcodes, it will only accept the first "half", from which you then have to select an address from a list of fiddly options.

WTF?

Why have they done this? Does it drive anybody else nuts? Do most other satnav systems allow you to enter full UK postcodes still? I've got somebody from Medion calling me on Monday to explain why this was done, but frankly i don't really care, i just want to enter a postcode and be told how to get there. Is that really too much to ask for? Grrr!

If it's like tomtom you might need a updated post code file. quick google might bring it up.

But according to Medion this is how it should now work. And there's no way around it, according to their technical services department. Or could somebody have found a fix do you mean?

Oh right. If that's what they've made it do that makes no sense. Seems like they've gone backwards with that "update" then

Yes, exactly what the technician said. Unbelievable isn't it.

Not the ones who are actually car enthusiasts.

Can you not 'rollback'?

Presumably pre-update was more preferable to post-update...

I guess it might be an option, but not if it means a lot of new roads become "invisible" again. Hobson's choice!

I've got the same issue. Quote " to comply with the European standard codes" and "no you can't have your money back". Looking for a solution. I've considered trying to roll back the application software while retaining the maps but haven't dared try yet.
