Petrol prices - some good news in all the doom
Well the good news is that the gloomy global economic forecasts are driving down the world oil price.
True to his word George Osborne has been watching the oil companies and their pricing... and I quote ... 'like a hawk' so whereas a month or so ago with oil at 20% more thanit is today the price at my local petrol station was 1.35 a litre it is now..... 1.35 a litre

Still paying 1.43 here for V-Power
And its slowly risen over the last month by around 2p
Annoys the hell out of me, when the oil price goes up the petrol price is up straight away. When it goes down it takes more than a month to move and its usually just by a penny !

I get the daily updates from the petrol prices website, and although they dont tend to include the Tesco 99 that I use, prices for Super Unleaded seem to have peaked down this way at 138.9 for the last few months, with a slight drop just over a month ago.
Petrol will never get back to £1 a litre. Every one is used to £1.30+ so no oil company will drop below what they know the public will pay. They are making more money than ever before, and just like the Utility companies, will just state that all these profits will be reinvested.

By that statement then they could keep putting it up and up,we should have a bet as to when it reaches the £2.00 a litre mark.
Owning a car now in this country is just becoming a ball ache, its not just fuel is it that has to be paid for.Insurance who now seem to be jumping on the rip you off train,MOT,Servicing,Tax,Parking Charges, some are only yearly payouts but still. The general wear of parts and the condition of our roads is not helping with that,if its not a pot hole its a road hump.
At the moment i must admit i'm not one of the people who is having to dig deep into pockets to pay for some fuel, but some must be at or getting to the point where they are thinking about can they really afford to keep paying.
Main problem is, fuel isnt a 'nice to have' for most people so the public cant just cut back and create pricing wars amongst garages. Fact is, the companies and government have us over a barrell, pants down, and lubed up.
TinyTim............surely things have to change then?
People could always switch to a more local job where they don't need a car.
The country still worked before we had cars. So why do we need them so much now?
Cos we are all lazy, and because we can.
The way to drop petrol prices is to remove the demand.
