Default Which of these 2 plasma would you buy??

Mother in law wants me to buy here a new TV. Has to be 42" with a budget of about £400ish.

Out of these 2 what would you say is best. She does not watch DVDs or films but mostly just SKY tv.

Personally, I'd go for the Plasma.

Well for a start one of them is an LCD, The plasma has a better response rate but a lower resolution.

In all honesty they are both less than impressive TV's imo.

The first one is only HD ready which means it does not have the full HD definition of 1080p.

The second is full HD 1080p which makes a significant difference to picture quality but you will have to look at each one running to see how the LCD of the second one compares with the plasma of the first one.

I would prefer plasma. but LCD screens are better now and the full 1080p spec is well worth having. It improves the picture even in non HD pictures.

She'll only need 1080p if she intends to watch BluRay content. BBC HD, Freeview HD and Sky HD etc only transmit in 1080i at most.

Panasonic 42 inch Full HD plasma, £433 delivered from Amazon

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004OYVBT...SIN=B004OYVBTC

Or get John Lewis to price match against Dixons so you get a 5 year warranty, its also £433 at Dixons but don't buy from them as the aftercare is cr@p to put it mildly, just use them for a price match.

Technically, the only way she's gonna make use of that HD (without paying $ky more money) is with freesat.

Anyhoo: for £479 of that one from John Lewis; I'd pay the extra £31 and have this: http://www.froogle.richersounds.com/...00/lg-42lx6900

3D, LED, 1080p, Motion interpolation, netcast (iplayer/youtube etc): On spec at least, it appears to be a good telly.

JL will not match with Dixons as they are internet only.

Cheers
