£15 to watch the telly for an evening
Well, last night in the pub the Haye-Klitcko fight convo came up. Now I'm not into boxing so swicthed off (mainly due to the BS that surrounds it all), but one thing that got my attention; The cost to watch it!
£15 on pay per view! FFS how much? We all agreed that you must be insane or just plain stupid to pay that. I mean you pay virgin/$ky £xxx a year on subs and in return they ram constant adverts, telesales and phone-voting shows down your visual cortex and they still want more money off you.
So sitting back chillling knowing what I probably WON'T be watching on saturday, I just get a text.....a mate is buying the fight on pay per view and wants to know if I fancy comming round to watch it (for some reason he thinks I'm into boxing, he also thinks I like blondes, when I actually prefer brunettes, but thats another story).
My reply; Sure why not?
Now let me digress; He's a fruit loop/waster, hasn't worked for the best part of ten years and is on incapacity benefit. In other words you and I have just paid for him to watch tomorrow's fight.
So the way I see it, I have the right to see this boxing match as I've already paid for it.

The cost is shocking. A work colleague of mine has a few of his mates coming round so that they can 'share' the cost. Only way to do it if you really, really want to watch that b*ll****.
It's bad enough being raped by the TV company. Sharing the pain seems to make it easier to 'swallow'.

As you have agreed to go does that not make you as bad as him since you are going because you can watch it for free but don't even like boxing.......
Surely the answer you should have given was sorry I don't like boxing so I won't be coming round.

I might go out to watch this. Normally can't be arsed with boxing, but used to love it when Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn were in their pomp.
I think I watched one of the Tyson Hollyfield fights in 2000? at a party (they paid for it on PPV) and it was a total anticlimax.
Still Haye-Klitcko have some game - and big mouths - this could be good.

Well if he's a mate of yours why don't you get him a job?
After all a man of your prestige and influence.......

Never thought it was good how Sky/Virgin charge you extra for a particular sporting event you already pay a monthly sub for, isn't the reason why you choose to pay for the sports package is to be able to watch any of the sports it shows. But if people go on paying for it then they will keep charging i guess.
Watch it for free on the internet..

It might only be £15.00 but really they are charging you for something you already pay a monthly for if you subscribe for the sports pack, that's how i see it anyhow.

Paid the subs. Only because it's on at a reasonable time, and not 3am.
Theres a few on us, so only a couple quid each. Food and beer will cost more.
