Quorn propaganda
I see the latest advert from Quorn is trying to switch meat eaters over by saying 'next time you have sausage and mash, switch them to Quorn for a healthy alternative'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTM2ioMv2Dg
Sod off!
If you must eat healthy sausages, get Weight Watcher pork sausages which have LESS fat that the Quorn ones.

Some of the quorn stuff is pretty good - makes the staple of my diet tbh. (WAY better value than the bloody meat you buy.)
However - I would not recommend the non-fish fish stuff... it's just weird. and wrong.
The Realeat saussies are nicer than the Quorn ones as well - much more flavour, as is the Realeat veggie mince.

I was totally against Quorn until I went over a vegetarian friends for food. I couldn't actually tell it was quorn until he told me, totally forgot he was a veggy.
The only thing is it can't be eaten on it's own, you need to cook it in a sauce. Obviously, given the choice I'd choose the real deal.

Nowt wrong with it; But the advert is a bit naughty. Sausages by tradition were always made with left over crap; hence fatty rubbish.
Nowadays one could make sausages with good cuts of lean meat and it would be alot healthier. But even so, forgeting percentages the differences aren't that great;
For example Wall's classic sausages have 99 calories per sausage of which 1g is sugar 7g fat 3g sats and 0.8g salt
Quorn imposter Sausages: 70 calories, trace sugar, 3g fat, trace sats, and 0.4g salt.
So, 29 calories 3g fat difference per sausage....big WOW! (ok the saturates are not great) Those sausages ain't gonna get tubby thin any time soon Eat ONE (yes one) Jammie dodger and you've just wrecked whatever you've gained by eating a Quorn sossy sarnie in stead of a Walls sossy sarnie!
And anyway. Fat content isn't the single issue with losing weight - which the advert implies (although part and parcel of health), there are many other contributaries.
As a Lifestyle choice, no problem its a good alternative. But when its being advertised as a ploy to lose weight, thats not right IMO.

Linda McCartney stuff is too greasy for me (and too much pepper in the mince). Sainsburys do the realeat stuff and their own brand is basically the same
I've seen realeat in H&B as well, but it's always bloody overpriced in there

My mrs is a veggie (still eats fish) and has most of the quorn range. The chicken pieces are actually not bad at all stuck in a stir fry or some sauce with rice etc. In fact probably tastes better than frozen chicken.
Quorn mince I can handle in something like a lasagne but for bolognese has to be the real deal.
Never actually tried a sausage as they dont look too appetizing esp on the bbq.
As for proper sausages I wouldnt put Walls in that category. Personally Ive tried a shed load of different sausages inc butchers, farm shops etc and I always go back to the Porky Whites Chipolatas (taste better than the standards).
Nowadays all you hear is these celebrity chef types saying you should have a sausage with really high pork content. I say sod off - you need the other stuff to get some flavour in there. If you eat 90% pork sausages you may as well eat a pork chop imho.

Quorn chicken pieces, quorn bacon, quorn fish....what next quorn medium rare fillet steak or quorn mixed grill?
If you want chicken, bacon, fish then eat the real thing not something made by a subsiduary of ICI.
If you want to eat vegetables and other non meats then eat them but stop pretending it is something else. We are designed as meat eaters so just get on with it.

Herself has started eating Quorn sausages recently as she is on a diet and says that they aren't too bad either, but I want a proper meaty sausauge (ohh err misses LOL) and not some sausage flavoured thing, the Quorn bacon goes like cardboard when cooked and it too hard to get right as it is coloured so you can't tell when it's ready.

I used to eat lots of Quorn mince in Spaghetti Bolognese and chilli con carne.
It's pretty good stuff, just these days I've got too lazy to cook for myself so haven't had it in ages.

You've got it back to front - it's a marketing ploy to get the meat eaters trying it; not the veggies something that looks like what they've stopped eating.
