Maybe like the New York cabs; a light that can be turned on to show they need help from police etc?

To make their brand more recognisable so people talk about it on the internet?

Don't know what the lights are for but taxi drivers really pi$$ me off, the police are having a big blitz on where people position there sat navs on the windscreens, bottom right of the screen is where they should be,but taxi drivers here stick them in the middle of there screens and always put addresses in whilst driving, is this not as bad or worst than texting whilst driving? ****$.

I saw a satnav the other day, I swear they must have been using it instead of looking out of the windscreen, RIGHT in front of their face!

Who says they should be there?

I usually have my window down so there is no way that it is going where some scally can try and grab it whilst I'm at some lights/stuck in traffic.

Queensland police. It's 3 points and $300 fine if portable sat navs are fitted anywhere apart from bottom right of the windscreen.
