Good luck with the home birth (assuming it's your first), however I would strongly urge you to rethink. Only read further if you want to, based on my experiences, but the hospital is the best place to be.....
.....I'm so glad we didn't go down that route otherwise I'd have been chasing an ambulance with the missus in the back on the way to hospital. The labour progressed rapidly and when we decided to make the dash to hospital we couldn't have timed it much better as she was starting to lose blood and her blood pressure was quite high when we got there. At that stage they were considering an emergency caesarian but luckily she wasn't far off the pushing stage so with a bit of butchery and coaxing with forceps out he came less than two hours after getting to the hospital! We'd have been fcuked if this had happened at home. Luckily although they though the placenta might have been coming away too early (hence the bleeding) they were able to analyse it after and it showed that our baby was luckily not starved of oxygen at any point in the birth so little or no risk of brain damage. Would have been such a shame to have been carrying around this perfect little boy for nine months only to have a birth complication give him brain damage. I don't think we'd have ever forgiven ourselves if we had somehow compromised his chances
The one girl in our NCT group who was wanting a home birth ended up getting induced, then it still didn't happen so that went to a caesarian. So the home birth obviously didn't happen there either.

Good luck!
I cannot imagine having been at home with my first! And even though technically my six hours in hospital for my second was barely even a day, I would still not have done it at home.
The complications the first time would have ended in tragedy had I not been in hospital.

I know things can happen with home birth's etc. But were only 15mins away from the hospital if need be. Midwife says the mrs is perfect for a homebirth so fingers crossed. My cousins wife had one and said it was the best decision they made. Got everything we need plastic sheeting and all that so will just see how she gets on.
I'll keep you all informed. Prob be shouting from the roof when the little ones here lol.
