Thumbs up Trooping The Colour ceremony

What a wonderful display of pomp and pageantry that only the British could do as well as that. Makes you proud to be British

And for those that dont know:

Dates from reign of Charles II in 17th century - when a regiment's flags, or colours, were used as rallying points on the battlefield

It allowed soldiers to recognise those of their own regiment amongst the smog and dust of battle

The colours came to express the spirit of the regiment and were held in high regard
Since 1748 it has also marked the official birthday of the British sovereign

Totally agree Chip. Proud to be British! Watch out for TDWs 'mawkish sentimentality' comment here soon.

Made me proud to be British too. One of those things I don't make plans to watch but then watch to the end if I happen to switch it on!

As you might expect, I feel the same way.

entirely agree.
My dad was in the Scots guards in the 60's and 70's and trooped the colours in 1970, so I grew up watching the ceremony on the TV and a couple of times up town, I've always enjoyed it even when I was a stroppy teen
always makes me regret never serving though!
