As some recent threads have popped up on the swear filtering of words and the bypassing of the swear filter I was wondering if the well known company **** would be classed as a bypass or is all to do with the surrounding content of the post?

Depends. **** is one of my fav words. C**t. I detest.
I asked Jamz, on the board not to use it, and he only used it once, and the perfect young gent he is, he apologised and has not used it since.
Some folks just don't like bad language, some do. Always best to err on caution

What the **** would they ban you for. Do they not speak Belfastish or Glasgowish? **** is one of those words that the natives use in the same way as salt. They have to be fairly narrow minded southerners if they ban you

It seems different mods have different views on this. I was picked upon it in muppets of all sections, but when questioning several other examples was told to stop whining. So that particular mod can go bollocks as far as I'm concerned as obviously has their favourite. Ban, infract me all you want but it rings true when one random post is singled out yet a whole thread was left untouched

a good old/middle english word. got some meat to it yet has still remained taboo for donkey's years. yes while most people find it offensive it's no worse than you will hear in a playground. any parents who think their wee angels wouldn't say such words need to think again. they are the exception nowadays unfortunately.

I hate the C word, always have. Think it's derogatory, so maybe that's why. We must still teach kids that swearing is not good as in general conversations it's frowned upon. My daughter said the S word yesterday. She's 12. Not acceptable.

Many people do find bad language offensive. I think it is preferable not to use it on a public forum.
Seems to me that it is a poor way of trying to accentuate a statement and often means that the person using is has run out of things to say which are actually connected with a discussion etc.
I always feel that it weakens an argument if you have to resort to using swearwords anyway.
Don't get the idea that I don't have a pretty good vocabulary myself having spent a good length of time in the Services.

telling someone to go away please and have sex with yourself dosen't quite have the same ring to it though does it . however the swear filter is like the dvla easily got round , but if you are going to go to all that bother of spelling it wrong ie **** cvnt w4nker etc why not just use c**t w*nker we all know what it means and the search engines they are so worried about wont pick up on that

Must have been before the amnesty, when they were still private I guess (well, until Stu made a cockup and had to wipe it clean).
My view; in limited fashion in the right context and starring out naughty stuff (as opposed to alternate spelling) is, to a point, ok. But when it gets continuous, or being used to wind us (or others) up, then we have to tell that user to tone it down.
More often than not they do just that, with the odd exception, who either kicks off on one or just ignores us. In which case we may take it further and dust off the ban hammer.
